10 OF THE BEST

Tuck in to our pick of foodie spots around the Flybe Network

NEWCASTLE

The Broad Chare, 25 Broad Chare, Newcastle Upon Tyne, Quayside, NE1 3DQ

This smart, award-winning pub has a separate bar, snug and dining area, with a restaurant upstairs. Stripped wood floors, high

bar stools, painted brickwork, leather banquettes and a polished-oak bar give it a traditional feel with a contemporary edge,

while the dining room has solid wood tables and schoolroom chairs. Bar snacks are packed with attitude: hand-raised Pork Pies,

Scotch Eggs, Cauliflower Fritters, Monkfish Cheeks and Lindisfarne Oysters. Lunchtimes and evenings, tuck into starters such

as Potted Shrimps or Whipped Cod’s Roe with Breakfast Radish and Garlic Croutons, followed by a hearty main course –

perhaps Fish Pie, Steak and Chips or the fancier Roast Brill with Bacon, Mussels and Coastal Greens. Daily specials include the

likes of Mince and Dumplings, Braised Oxtail and Ham Shank with Pease Pudding.
